beautifully formed with even, perfectly balanced layers of petaloids make this flower appealing to the masses for the pastel garden or for arrangements; 1'-3'.
Native to Mexico and Central America, dahlias provide us with more pleasure than almost any other summer bulb we have because they produce an abundance of wonderful flowers perfect for 'gift giving flower arrangements' throughout early summer and again in late summer until frost. Especially if they are picked for arrangements, these 'cut and come again' plants require almost no care, they appear to be pest resistant and they come in a myriad of colors. Our friends really enjoy them as well! They make a great 'shoes and socks' plant for larger bulbs or perennials and are happy in full sun or partial shade. Dahlias have different shapes from the tightly formed flowers of the pompon-types to the looser ones of the cactus-types and the decorative in-between types, they're all terrific! Top-sized tubers; approx. 1 per sq. ft.; zones 8-10; has overwintered in our whz 7 with extra winter mulch among our daffodils and tulips; we divided them into groups according to their shape; top-sized tubers.
